Glen was operated today.

We just spoke with the surgeon. It was a long and very difficult operation, but as far as the surgeon can see, the best possible long-term solution was achieved. If all goes well, Glen may never need another surgery, even as an adult—something we hadn’t thought was possible before.

The surgeon initially hoped to preserve Glen’s natural valve tissue, but that wasn’t feasible, so he implanted artificial valves. As a result, Glen will need daily medication for life.

Right now, his heart requires significant support from many medical machines, his chest remains open, and he will need to stay in intensive care for the moment.
