Bye bye HUG (Hôpital Uni. Genève): Glen's first step to freedom
An overwhelming moment of relief and gratitude - after an intense time in hospital, we are finally allowed to go home with Glen. His road to recovery is not yet over, but we are full of hope and confidence.
Yeeeaaahhhh! After an exhausting and intensive time, we have finally left the hospital in Geneva with our brave little hero Glen.
Over the last few weeks, we have been busy every day with numerous therapies and treatments to support Glen's recovery in the best possible way. Thanks to a great team of therapists who have supported him with physiotherapy, occupational therapy, music therapy and art therapy, Glen has made remarkable progress. We are deeply grateful for their tireless support and the miracles we have witnessed.
As of yesterday, Glen is completely free of all tubes - what a feeling!
It was a particular challenge to find the right balance for Glen's medication. But today we got the long-awaited "OK" from the doctors to leave the hospital and finally go home with Glen.
At home, Glen will continue to receive regular medical care and physiotherapy. The road to full recovery will still take some time, but we are very confident that he will make it.
We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your incredible support - for your prayers, thoughts, loving gifts and beautiful drawings. Every single one of you has contributed to us being able to experience this moment.
With love and deep gratitude,
Glen, Avon, Franziska and Sam
P.S. Through Glen's situation, we have learnt to appreciate things that we usually take for granted in life again. Perhaps there is something in your life that you can look at with renewed gratitude. We wish you much joy in the new week!
